Caring for your Mala

Malas work hard. They need to be refreshed and cleansed. If the stones are just messy, simple cleaning can be done with any mild sweet soap, but to cleanse the stones' energies you will need light, smoke, or salt.

Fill a bowl with salt, bury the mala in it, and set it where it will receive sunlight and/or moonlight. 8-12 hours is usually enough to cleanse and refresh the stones, but if they still feel clogged, do it longer.

Sage smoke will cleanse the stones, or you can simply direct a column of cleansing white light to enter your crown chakra and flow out of your third eye; direct this stream of light onto the stones until they feel clean.

Stones break. Malas break.

This is not a bad thing.

If a stone breaks, that means that is wants to work for you in more than one place. Think about that, and you may want to put stones in places that may be needing work.

When your mala breaks, that means it has done all it can for you and wants to be reconfigured.

Lay the stones out, add or subtract stones according to your intuition, and restring.

Or send it to me.
I'll be glad to restring it for you and continue our healing relationship!
